Data we collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address and Angler ID. Depending on the features you use, we also process your profile photo, friend requests, messages, preferences, notification token, tournament entries, catches, species, measurements, dates, videos, and payment or membership status.
Media and location
The camera and microphone record catch videos; you can save a copy to your photo library. Organizers and authorized reviewers can view videos to verify catches. Organizers enter the country, state or region, and fishing area for a tournament. The app does not use an angler's current GPS location to record a catch. Location permission is requested only when a specific tournament requires location verification.
How data is used and shared
We use data to sign in, show profiles, manage tournaments and entries, receive and review catches, calculate results, enable messaging, secure the service and send notifications. Content shared in a tournament may be visible to its participants. Our infrastructure and features use Supabase, Firebase Cloud Messaging, Google Maps, Google Mobile Ads, Stripe and app stores where applicable. Stripe directly processes payment and bank details; COUNT THE CATCH does not store card numbers or bank details. Providers may process data under their own terms and policies.
Retention and deletion
We keep data only as long as needed to provide the service, run tournaments, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. You can request permanent deletion in the app; your account, profile, content and associated videos will be removed. Some tournament records and financial ledger entries may be retained without being linked to your account to preserve results and necessary accounting records. Stripe and app stores may retain their own transaction records. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription or automatically refund tournament entry fees; manage subscriptions separately and contact the organizer about a fee. See our account deletion page for step-by-step instructions.
Your choices
You can change language and notification preferences in the app Settings and manage camera, microphone and photo permissions in your device settings. Notifications are optional. To request access, correction or help with your data, contact us by email.
Children
You must be at least 18 years old to use COUNT THE CATCH. The service is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete it.
